What Are Side Effects?

Posted by Mary (Spartanburg, SC) on 10/11/2006

ACV with baking soda has cured everything (wow!) It has helped my husband's acid reflux, his snoring isn't anywhere near as bad. better mood for both of us my husband was plagued with some arthritis in his knees, that seems to be gone. We both feel more rested, even if we have a restless night of sleep. We both are clear headed. My R.L.S. is gone! And as an added bonus I have started losing weight. I don't have anymore cravings for chips ( a big problem ). My son who has ADHD is now taking it along with his concerta and he really likes the effect. This cure all has made a huge impact on our whole family. We don't ever want to quit taking it.

We have heard all of the good things that is does, but what is the bad side? Are there any warnings that we should be aware of, and if so, what possible remedies for those side effects. This is to good to be true!!!!! We want to continue taking this, but we want to be smart about it. We have already noticed that we get very cotton mouthed, and need to drink more water. Want to be well informed and cured of all of our ailments. The way that we take it is very easy. we mix 1 tablespoon of acv with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, 4 drops of unflavored stevia, and 8 0z of fruit punch. 2 times a day. Yummy!!! Should we be taking supplements with this? And, are there any other bad side effects, and or safe guards that we should know about? Looking forward to a reply!!!! Thanks , from the happy family

Dear Mary: I am happy to hear that many ailments were relieved with ACV baking soda.

Are there any warnings that we should be aware of, and if so, what possible remedies for those side effects. This is too good to be true!!!!!

If you have had a pH meter to measure your your urine and saliva, you would be surprised that a large majority of people are way off the optimum health.

One of the most terribly unrecognized deficiencies that is rampant today is what I have called "the buffer deficiency". While we do recognized that a fish aquarium needs pH for them to survived and we therefore monitor the water where fishes lived in, we have never given second thoughts about monitor our urine as also an aquarium by which our cells thrived in. It was first recognized that our blood plasma resemble ancient seawater in many respects, including the pH as well as the major macro minerals.

As such the use of the ACV and buffers required that our urinary pH be in the range of 6.5 - 7.35. The ancient seawater is around the pH of 7.3. However, the diets which we eat, I have found to my surprised averages around 5-6, which is stressful. More acid then this I have found to cause kidney problems as condition acid tends to digest the kidney as well as caused leeching of the calcium, much the same as putting chicken bones in a vinegar.

Since the formula of ACV and baking soda, regardless of how much error you make it either, too sour or too alkaline will cause your urine to go within an ideal or near optimum range, of 6 - 7.5. Which is relatively close.

Taking too much of ACV baking soda will cause you to go to diarrhea, which often corrects itself by lowering such dose is the only side effects I can see.

Often the biggest mistake I have seen from such use is the use of ACV alone, which can result in further bicarbonate or buffer deficiency. Ideally children with ADHD can be truly helped with ACV baking soda. And for ADHD children, the formula, especially the baking soda component seems to improved children's learning in many case. The reason is simple, most children's diets are high in phosphoric acid which tend to cause extremely high salivary pH exceeding 7.5.

The magic of bicarbonate or sodium bicarbonates is that it corrects itself by lowering the acid salivary pH of 7.5 to a more reasonable 7.35 or lower.

The other issue is bicarbonates tend to push up, those with acid urinary pH, causing the body's equilibrium of pH to a near optimum values, allowing sufficient buffers causes the body to function normally.

The problem about the use of ACV baking soda is that it is not perfect, but it is very simple. There are other factors that I have not really taken into consideration, but they are helpful if you do.

One biological terrain that causes us to be healthier is the pH, but one other issue we have always ignored is the ORP, which means Oxidation Reduction Potential. This is a value where your body's optimum condition can only exists in a state of antioxidation, where the values are often expressed as a negative value millivolts. An ORP meters has been in used in agriculture for years to control water, whether to make the water more biologically active for drinking or biologically sterile for distribution.

Many industries do not like to reveal a lot of secrets on this, but it is truly possible to make your body more biological active, by causing your urine to have a more negative ORP. One extremely simple formula that I have devised, while a student of chemistry after doing hundreds of test (I wasn't too bright then) was this:

1/4 teaspoon of baking soda 1/4 teaspoon of ascorbic acid 1/2 glass of water. Taken twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening on an empty stomach.

Allow the fizz to proceed, the resultant reaction is an alkaline form of ascorbic acid with some excess baking soda. The ORP is about between -200 to -300 millivolts. A sick person or a cancer patient might have a positive millivolts of 10, a person with a chemotherapy, or radiation poisoning of 100 to 200 millivolts. When I get sick, my millivolts are low at -20 mv. To get my body back to health I take the above formula to get my urinary ORP to standard health at about -100 to - 150 millivolts.

Of course one of the most difficult aspect of getting a perfect pH that has bothered me was the dose. Our body consumes at LEAST 1/2 teaspoon per day of bicarbonate, without it, we get sick all the time since the body needs a dietary bicarbonates quite often. So the problem about the ACV baking soda is that the dose is often a conservative one, what I called the minimum required daily allowance(RDA) that you need. Exercise and stressful activity you need much more.

The other issue of using it appears to be that pH DOES NOT get near the optimum values I was hoping for. This issue is best resolved, based on analyzing Western Diets that to best raise the pH only to optimum values you need to do the following:

1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid (if you CANNOT find citric acid, the whole lemons will do)plus 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day, once in the morning and once before bedtime. This is a very common recipes I give people whom I see where pH is a real problem where buffer deficiency is important. Many ADHD children are often helped with this, but they tend to favor more baking soda with this formula instead, but not conclusive, so here it goes:

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid 1/2 glass of water.

There are many more variations I have played over the years. The most recent ones is based on the idea of a mammalian tissue culture formula, often called mammalian ringer's solution. Of course I have to make major modifications of this in light of Western Diet and I get the following formulas:

1/4 teaspoon of baking soda 1/10 teaspoon of disodium phosphate 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid.

This is only used in rare cases, such as me to raise stubbornly acid urine values to nearer optimum values. Of course there is more formulas I have up my sleeve, but earthclinic is not a place for advanced course in achieving optimum health and it gets too nebulous if I should go further then this!

You should at least know some history of ACV baking soda and how it came about:

Initially, I have recognized since way back around 1971-1973, when I have had a major pneumonia while going on a trip with my parents to San Antonio Texas after traveling from Houston. During that time a pneumonia struck the whole family and I was grounded after the trip. I found my body to be acid forming, after reading about this issue by the famous psychic, Edgar Cayce. I knew that eating sweets caused the fever much worse, so I concluded early on that sweets were acid forming food. Milk made the conditions worse, not with higher fever, but coughing and sniffing.

While Cayce never specifically mentioned the use of baking soda to alkalized his body for stronger immune system, he did mention indirectly on colon balancing, which required salt and bicarbonate. Although this can resulted in diarrhea if given too much, I decided to modify just using baking soda and water, and just removed the salt he recommended for colon balancing.

Much later with the health benefits of ACV I further made some variations of adding ACV plus baking soda, as ACV components have malic acid, and other that can further helped alkalized the body much better. I also had other variations developed later on to solve various problems. So baking soda and ACV is perhaps the most versatile in my opinion due to minerals and the malic acid component.

We want to continue taking this, but we want to be smart about it. We have already noticed that we get very cotton mouthed, and need to drink more water. Want to be well informed and cured of all of our ailments.

Yes, baking soda corrects your body's hydration values. When a person is more alkaline, the capillaries expand filling the body with more water and increasing hydration. This is why you are more cotton mouth. I perspire easier taking baking soda plus citric acid, which is good as it eliminates toxins from my body easier. I have seen people who perspire easy and drink more water to age slower than people who don't.

The way that we take it is very easy. we mix 1 tablespoon of acv with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, 4 drops of unflavored stevia, and 8 0z of fruit punch. 2 times a day.

This is a good dose and ideal dose for ACV and baking soda. And yes, taken two times a day, once before bedtime and once in the morning, preferably on an empty stomach.

Other things that I worry have very much to do with heavy metals, while citrates (baking soda citric acid) do have some capability of removing heavy metals, it is limited and market is lacking in heavy metals test or proper use and control. However, I have found most heavy metals for me come from old faucets and old rusty pipes. Changing to new faucets and proper new pipe fittings will really help.
