Question About Peroxide Mixture
Hello. As a child I caught a finger in a closing door and lost the nail. When it grew back and for my entire life (now 37) there was always a small grey mark under this nail. About 5 years ago, the nail "lifted" and is basically seperated from the nail bed. The seperation begins about 1mm in from the cuticle. I should also mention that about 2mm behind the cuticle, the skin has always seemed slightly inflammed and raised (almost as if the lifted/seperated nail is "higher than the nailbed" all the way under the skin so to speak. Since this seperation took place, I have always just cut the lifted part of the nail away, so that the nailbed is exposed right the way to the cuticle --- I am assuming that the entire nail is lifting from the nailbed --- the surface area that is exposed is very uneven and bumpy and after cutting the partially grown nail away, I can usually cut away some of the uneveness with a blade or knife (completely painless). I recently discovered your peroxide/vinegar etc treatment and having phoned a pharmacist, they spoke me out of it and suggested I use plain tea tree oil 3-5 times a day for 2 months. I have been doing that now for about a week, but keep wondering if I shouldn't just go ahead and buy your ingredients anyway. We don't have Clorox here in South Africa --- is there a universal equivalent, or anything else I could pass on to the pharmacists to find a similar product here?? What type of vinegar is used to mix with the peroxide?? Also, assuming my description is reasonably accurate, should I apply the peroxide mixture directly onto this exposed area that is basically under the lifted nail?? Thanks for any answers or help as I am pretty lost here.
