Is Distilled White Vinegar Better Than ACV?

Posted by Andrew (Long Beach, CA) on 06/17/2006

Dear Ted, I have begun to use distilled white Vinegar or external use and found some sucess since trying it. This is after having something drop on my toe nail and having to start the treatment all over. I have checked the PH level of both the ACV and Distilled White and discovered they have the same PH levels, but Distilled White costs slightly less. Would you agree Distilled White Vinegar is better than ACV for external use and ACV is better for internal when it comes to fungus?

Distilled vinegar or ACV is at least equally good for external use. ACV has malic acid which distilled vinegar does not, but malic acid is also antifungal. Distilled vinegar also have some acetic acid, as same as ACV, but ACV has other antifungal components as well and might work better than distilled vinegar. However in practice, I don't make the distinction that much since, practically speaking work equally well. So I don't think this is a serious issue.

ACV is good for internal use because of the vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. When it comes to fungus, ACV is potentially better than distilled vinegar but the distinction is very small, so in practice we used distilled vinegar due to the cost issue rather than nutritional issues.
