Colitis and Gerd

Posted by Anonymous (NYC) on 06/26/2007

This site is the reason that today I can go out without too much pain! Thanks Ted! Your advice is the most helpful I've seen on Acid Reflux & other digestive ailments. It had all started last year with some sharp-stabbing pains that lead to a small inflammation on my left side of colon (colitis) which was my first ailment. A naturalist prescribed me Turmeric, Black walnut, Papaya Enzymes, Multi Enzymes & Acidophilus, the latter, which helped me with the bloating & pain & slightly improved my digestion which was terrible at that point. This year however, I ended up having GERD as the doctors said after I had strong attacks that lead me to the ER several times, I had a tight chest, chest pains (mostly on the left but would spread to the right) & I had shortness of breath. Anyhow despite the blood work, x-rays, EKG, cat-scan which came out fine & the purple pill the doctors gave me, there was no improvement or clarification as to why I was still in so much muscle pain. When they lower my purple pill to 20MG (stupid docs), my GERD was the point where I couldn't even eat from a delicate esophagus & had to rely on vegetable juice. So I tried ACV + Baking Soda & it relieved the heart-attack-like pains & in 3 days I was back to eating more solid food again. However, I still had strong muscle pain all over my upper chest (mostly), spine & shoulders. I was feeling 60% well but I needed to feel better. I had read about a magnesium-calcium supplement to help correct the GERD thing, so I tried it & in a matter of hours, I felt well. It's been the 3rd day I'm on Mag-Calcium, haven't even taken any more ACV yet & I feel at 75%. I still have a bit of pain here sometimes on the lower part of my right and left chest but it's not as crippling & as intense as before. I wonder why... I know at one point one doctor (another naturalist as I had many docs) had told me that my stomach was floating upwards from the pressure. So my questions are 1) How do I get my stomach to stop going upwards & avoid a hiatal hernia (if I don't have one already)? 2) Would it be safe to eat baked Tilapia or Salmon about twice a week? I only eat vegetables & sweet potato (alkaline foods). 3)Would the same treatment of ACV + Baking Soda work for my colitis? Anyhow I'm feeling better each day thanks to you.

Usually magnesium alone, and the lime and baking soda formula (which removes excess calcium in the tissues), will usually remove most of those muscular pains. In general getting a supplements of only magnesium would do. The sweet potatoes is high in calcium and might not be helpful for muscle pain. More vegetarian and fish diets are generally fine. It is actually the baking soda that helps most of the GERD, however, ACV and baking soda, alternatively used with lemon and baking soda. Generally, the lime (lemon) and baking soda will raise the pH necessary for the body to have enough alkalinity to reduced the GERD.

So my questions are 1) How do I get my stomach to stop going upwards & avoid a hiatal hernia (if I don't have one already)?

It takes a several weeks for the remedy of lemon and baking soda and ACV and baking soda used alternatively so that hiatal hernia is reduced. You were taken them too short of a period. The body needs time to buildup enough citrate, bicarbonates, and malates (mostly from reaction of acv with baking soda, and lemon and baking soda).

2) Would it be safe to eat baked Tilapia or Salmon about twice a week? I only eat vegetables & sweet potato (alkaline foods).

I would leave out the sweet potatoes, the calcium is too high and it accumulates in the muscle tissues causing pain. However, vitamin B complex is synergistic with the magnesium and also reduces certain oxalates which might remotely cause the muscle pain too.

3)Would the same treatment of ACV + Baking Soda work for my colitis?

Yes. However, magnesium citrates, and zinc gluconates are very important also. The key is to increase the pH where the intestinal pH is nearing 8, needed to kill off the ulcerative colitis bacteria (which are hydrogen sulfide producing bacterium). Therefore it is important that the pH of intestines are raise along with the body's pH. Body's pH are most effectively raise with the lemon and baking soda formula. But taking some small amount such as 1/8 teaspoon of Milk of Magnesia available at most drug stores with a small pinch of zinc oxide in 1 glass of water should quickly relieve the ulcerative colitis. What the zinc oxide does is it neutralizes the hydrogen sulfide by taking the sulfur away to form zinc sulfide. The Magnesium hydroxide found in the Milk of magnesia, has a pH near 10, a tiny amount (without inducing) diarrhea, will raise the require pH to near 8 necessary to kill the bacteria (sulfur reducing bacteria) which causes the ulcerative colitis.
