White Coating, Burning, and Cravings

Dear Ted, I came across the earth clinic web site, that I have read with great Gusto!! Your replies have got me started in a healing Journey that NO AMOUNT of medical doctors could do. I recently had a baby who will be 5 months soon. During my pregnancy I started having this awful strong metallic taste (with a thick white coating) on my tongue. This taste eventually turned into what I was told is now called Burning Tongue syndrome. My sodium is border line low, and crave SALT and beer a lot.. I am not a drinker, so I found this beer craving very ODD for me. My calcium is also border line low, and looks like I may have low B6, but every thing else looks ok. Anyway after many docs I found a pretty OK ENT who actually listened too me, and he told me I had Acid reflux, even though I did even feel like I had this issue. He prescribed pepcid for me.. the nice thing was after 13 months of not being able too scrape off this white coating, I was finally able too scrape it off (after only one day of using pepcid), and my tongue is now 90% pink again. How ever this darn burning is still there. I do have Hashimoto Thyroiditis, and a compromised immune system. I found your ACV recipe and I have too say.. OMG.. this is awesome. I do the 2tblsp of ACV, ? tsp of baking soda, and 8 ounces of water. (twice daily). this totally takes away the burning I have been feeling in my tounge. However if I stop taking it, the burning returns along with the white coating. I have only been doing this 1.5 wks, but I was wondering.. does this sound Fungal too you? I love the results I get from the ACV recipe you speak about, but not too sure how long I should do this. I really do not believe that I have too LIVE with this issue. Can you please help educate me further on this issue.. Many, Many Thanks.

The burning tongue syndrome or the acid tongue was first coined by me (for lack of a better word) after one person who was taking too much acidic drink burned his tongue so badly it tore his tongue. The simple remedy at the time was just to keep up the baking soda mouthwash as often as possible and take at least 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda twice a day. It took 2 weeks for the tongue to disappear. However, a lifetime of alkalization is needed but not necessarily every day, if only you know that 90% of what you eat are acid forming food. It gets much worse when you have a baby because the baby's waste product happens to be acid too. I call this an acid overload, which not yet perfected fully, but it works with fairly great consistency with me for the last 25+ years since I was way back in the early 1970s after suffering a bout of pneumonia.

Now lactic acid buildup can also be responsible and the acetate form allows the body to rid of acid substance using the apple cider vinegar and baking soda. The body needs at least a baking soda, but it is more helpful if it is added the apple cider vinegar OR the lemon/lime juice formula.

I have further gone down in to efficiently getting the pH under control looking for other avenues, such as drinking green tea (no sugar, no fructose, no milk) to as both a mouthwash AND as a drink to kill certain fungus. But this is seen as supportive and it does stimulate salivary glandular function after taking 3 bottles (500cc) for only two days. It clears up the glandular functions that was clogged due to the tannic acid actions from the green tea. However other that works well is the pomegranate fruits, which is high in tannins can also help with the white tongue.

However, the mainstay is to try to take the apple cider vinegar or lime with baking soda to neutralize excess acid toxins that gets overloaded in the body. Toxin overload are controlled by both alkalinity and certain magnesium. But in case of a stomach upset you have mentioned, a magnesium chloride 1/2 teaspoon, with 2 drops of clove oil, and 4 drops of lavender oil, in 1/2 glass of water would have stopped that kind of stomach upset within 5 minutes. That's because it is a staphylococcus like bacteria, as well as the magnesium, lavender and clove are broad antibiotics, without the side effect. Taking a bath in zinc oxide can further relieve of toxins by removing hydrogen sulfide which is seen as toxin buildup in the body which quite possibly leads to a whitish, fungus like condition of the tongue also, with long term leading to inflammation, if the toxins were not neutralized in the meantime.

If your sodium is borderline, just take between 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt in 1 liter of water. It will normalize the body's electrolytes, pH, and micromineral imbalances all at once. The low calcium can be increased by alkalization, and vitamin b complex taken twice a week can help.

Beer craving can be reduced by taking brewer's yeast, they have selenium which may be causing the craving and this can be replaced without the need for beer.
