Dear Becky:

The baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and water basicallyworks better than cayenne pepper. Coughing takesawhile to get over, but the one that helped me themost (and I once coughed for almost a year) until itstopped, was taking menthol crystals, tiny amounteverytime there is an urge to cough. If you can't get them, the closest one is peppermint oil, about 4drops. No sugar as it worsens the cough and no coughmedicines it worsens the coughs as it always havesugar.

Some N Acetyl Cysteine 100 mg - 500 mg/day helpsreduce the mucus where the microbes basically existsas a biofilm, causing the coughs. Vitamin A helps, butthose are taken only twice or thee times a week.

Certain biofilms can be reduced or destroyed withtaking SSKI (Saturated solution of potassium iodide)of about 2-4 drops in a glass of drinking water insmall sips (usually 10 minutes apart) at a spacedinterval of about 6-8 hours using that same glass. Ifthe biofilms are destroyed, the coughs should go away.

It takes about a couple of weeks for it to reduce atleast for me with the chronic coughs, which lastedalmost a year. Keep your neck warm. A cold neck alwayscauses coughing so warm scarf around the neck canhelp, especially in cold rooms or during sleep. Somepeople go further with a hot water bag on the neck, but not too hot of course. A high temperature of 103-104 degree Fahrenheit usually kills the microbes thatexists in the throat and worsens the irritationwhenever the temperature are cooler, which they tendto flourish.
