Immune Functioning

Posted by M.C. (LV, NV) on 05/31/2007

Ted, I have had psoriasis since i was 16. I within the last two years have it on my hands and feet as well as nail fungus. I attribute this worsening to my recent separation and divorce from my husband (not by my choice). My hair was thinning and falling out mostly in the front of my head. I went into early menopause at 37 years old and I am now 47. I get hot flashes after eating any carbs. I exercise 4 times a week cardio and weights. I weigh 110 and i'm 5' 3" tall. I was diagnosed with osteopenia a while ago but it never progressed I was taking natural progesterone cream from the health food store. I quit taking it when my hair started to fall out and i had started to feel bad. I'm gaining weight around my mid-section and my real concern is I have this feeling that something is on the left side of my throat, I have a little difficulty swallowing no pain though and I have to cough or clear my throat often an I have a slight hoarseness in my voice which has lasted for over a month. I take glcosamin and choindroiten, coral calcium, Vit B complex, B-12, zinc magnesium, vit. a, folic acid, I take every so often flax, borage and evening primrose and fish oil. I also once in awhile use acv on my salads. I eat mostly raw salads and occasionally cooked veggies with some fish and once in a while eat some chicken etc. Could I have an enlarged thyroid? Are the things i'm taking affecting my immune system. Also for about 10 years from the age of 25 to 35 I had ulcerative colitis but I finally figured out that my diet had alot to do with that, my doctor denied it. I quit pasteurized milk and sugar and sodas. I do drink raw unadulterated milk which for some reason helps my psoriasis. What can i do for all this. Sounds like alot. Thank you. Plus what can i do to prevent the effects of antibiotics before cosmetic surgery?

Thyroid is a problem, but so is adrenal exhaustion Sorry about the time taking to answer this, but the hair thinning problem have to do with suppressed immune system, as certain microbes blocks the glandular functions. Vitamin B complex need not be taken everyday since certan B6 is a hydrochloride, and becomes acid forming. The best with that is to take only twice a week. The most important issue appears to be to raise the immune system, by alkalization or get urinary pH of 7. there are three possible remedies, the most simplest ones is the 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day once in the morning and once before bedtime. The other issue is the heavy metal accumulation which was not considered, but a big factor to microbial growth such as taking chlorella capsules once a day 5 days out of 7. The hair thinning appears to be reduced iodine in the body and manganese that causes the hair thinning issues. Iodine supplements ideally can come from Kelp, taken 4 or 5 days out of a week. Micromineral imbalances appears to be likely, so add 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt plus a tiny pinch of baking soda, such as 1/16 teaspoon to 1 liter of drinking water to correct that.

Historical ulcerative colitis appears to be a magnesium deficiency, but you did mention taking, so that was helpful. Gaining weight around the mid-section appears to be electrolyte imbalance, hormonal problems due to adrenal exhaustion. Alkalizing will help reduce some of the midsection from ACV+baking soda, or just baking soda slowly. Usually taking some sea salt will reduce water balance by restoring electrolyte imbalances. Pomegranate fruits will help reduce that too by taking care of the kidneys as well as being a diuretic. If taken together with Alpha lipoic acid 100 and DHEA 25 mg (only twice weekly or once a week dose) should help restore the problem of the midsection issue too. In my case, it was very helpful. Adrenal exhaustion issues can be helped with licorice extract one or two tablespoon, perhaps 2 or 3 times a week as it helps some glandular recovery. I have seen people with urinary pH of below 6 to have problems of water retention and raising them seems to reduce this problem.

prevent the effects of antibiotics before cosmetic surgery

Cosmetic surgery can leave infections and scars, so getting the body alkalize enough should at least help the healing as it raises the body's overall immune system. Consider taking chlorella supplements to counterbalance the negative effects of heavy metal accumulation caused by antibiotics. Also, most antibiotics are acid forming, and it is important that baking soda, or alkalizing is used to neutralize the acid.

Is Cayenne Pepper helpful or harmful for psoriasis. I was advised by a TCM practitioner to take a teaspoon of Cayenne mixed with beet juice mornings on an empty stomache.
