Chemistry of Rhodiola and Vitamin E?

Posted by Elice (Washington) on 12/10/2006

Do you know how the Rhodiola and vitamin E work to help make the skin look better? (I'm wondering about the chemistry behind this combination) Thanks!

Elice: Rhodiola is a herb found in northern arctic region with many essential oils that might be responsible. However, I think the main components is likely to be the geraniol content which is also found in geranium too. Both are considered to be adaptogens, but in science we think it causes the body to maintain homeostasis better, and therefore it is especially helpful during stress and fatigue.

Therefore lower stress plus antioxidant power of vitamin E causes the skin condition to improve. It is the same as getting plenty of rest and a good sleep and vitamin E will also improve the skin condition. I think any adaptogens make and ideal nutrition for the body to maintain homeostasis and this I think is what is responsible for longevity in people.
