Stomach Issues After Traveling Abroad

Posted by Puja (Mountain View, California, USA) on 04/10/2008

My husband has been having severe stomach problem since last year. We wnet to India last year and while we were in India he some stomach upset, we thought its normal...after we came back from India, it got worse so we went to urgent care here in CA, the doctor did some tests and said he has HPYLORI and gace hin antibiotics course for 2 weeks. We did the course and after that he was only feeling worse so we went to the doctor again and this time they said he might have stomach ulcer. So we went to a Gastroentologist. The gastroentologist did an Endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsy and a CTscan and could not find anything wrong. My husband is unabel to digest anything Tea Coffee and Wine make him throw up and all other foods give him continuous belching and burping. After all the tests the doctor said that he has IBS and prescribed Bentyl(dicyclomine) that helped for two weeks after that it only kept getting worse. He is unable to perform any physical activity and he bvasically keeps getting the burps all day. He does not have a loose stomach and only Throws up if he drinks wine. Please help..

There are certain remedies that absorbs gases or CO2 which causes burping. A low dose remedy such as 1/2 teaspoon of sodium carbonate in 1/2 glass of water, which is a stronger for of sodium bicarbonate will absorb the excess carbon dioxide causing the burping, taken three times a day. The sodium carbonate is often called washing soda, and a milder remedy that scientist use is called carbicarb, which is a mixture of baking soda and sodium carbonate. However in event of extreme burping, excessive fermentation creates a lot of CO2. In a simple reaction a sodium carbonate if reacted with excess CO2, the sodium carbonate becomes a sodium bicarbonate. But if a sodium bicarbonate is added, CO2 is readly comes faster. Therefore, if the body is sufficiently alkalized or the remedy is taken frequently enough, the excess carbon dioxide is reduced and the alkalinity will kill off most of the fermentable fungus by alkalization. However it is my belief that these fungus like organism can be generally killed if a borax and molybdenum remedy is taken too. Such as 1/4 teaspoon of borax is added in a per liter of drinking water. Molybdenum supplements further discourages their growth and my remedy usually needs about 25 mg of sodium molybdate. It should be noted that all sour foods should be avoided, especially all fruits, tomatoes, peanuts, cheese, white bread, ketchup,' potatoes, yeast products (wine, yogurt, beer champagne), especially wheat, mushrooms, possibly beans, any sugar and peppermint tends to cause excessive fermentation and hence is something I would avoid and it takes about three weeks of avoiding plus the alkalizing needed to kill off the fermentable yeast fungus that creates excessive gas. There is a possibility that MMS (sodium chlorite) mixed citric acid can also temporarly kill off the fermentable yeast, but the food source of honey, sugar, fruits, cranberries, glucose, corn syrup should be avoided as they put fuel to fire. Hence since yeast grows in sugar, lowering sugar or blood sugar may discourage fermentable yeast like organism, through supplements that lowers sugar such as one tablespoon of granulated lecithin, chromium picolinate supplements x 3 times a day, vanadium supplements, and zinc gluconate supplements. Therefore alkaline, avoiding acid formng food, certain foods that support yeast growth, and anti fungal supplements should reduce the excess burping and gases and should be noticed some improvement on the third week. Antibiotics quite often worsens the burping since they are made from fungus, and they tend to support fungus growth not bacteria growth. Helicobacter pylori exist in acid medium and alkalizing them can often kill them. But raising immunity that is antibacterial in nature such as 50 mg of zinc gluconate for 4 days or 5 days out of a week should also kill the bacteria too. The fact that the body is throwing up indicates the digestive enzyme or certain vitamins are lacking which prevents digestion. The common remedy is B12 shots, vitamin B complex taken for a couple of weeks, especially magnesium chloride or magnesium supplements and royal jelly (a bee product) should help normalize the digestion and prevent throwing up. The other means is B12 injection to bypass the stomach so that the body can digest the food or even a b complex shot, if the person is unable to take any supplements whatsoever. A bulimia or anorexic type condition, or inability to swallow is quite often due to vitamin B deficiency. All foods should be none sour, otherwise they will cause excess fermentation. The person who have fermenting gases stomach should not take wine, beer, cheese, tomatoes and other things mentioned already. Those worsen the conditions and needs to be abstained for about a month until the fermentable yeast or h. pylori dies off when the body is sufficiently alkaline an sugar is not taken. In the long run it three weeks of alkalizing is needed to reduce the fermentation and excessive burping and b complex should help normalize the digestion process.

I just wanted to let you know that we recently got a breath test done and it came negative for any bacteria. So the doctor says that he does not think it is any bacterial overgrowth. Also I wanted to bring to your attention the fact that this has affected his Libido also. We got a hormone test done and it came out perfectly normal but he is unable to perform in any way and even if he tries the burping worsens. Please let me know if we should get any other tests done as I am worried if it is anything serious, since he is unable to indulge in any sexual activity.'Once again thanks a lot for all your time and advice. The present breath test is primitive. One does not need to prove that you got burping from the breath test, all you need to know is you burp and there is fermentation going on. Hence, avoiding common fungus promoting foods such as wheat, bread, sugar, yeast, sour foods, dairy products helps. Beans also tend to form gases in some ways too.

Whenever the dietary factors and fungus are in a way, people with high oils in the body or fungus, tends to block normal hormone production. Hence one way that can raise libido, at least by me anyway is 1/4 teaspoon of borax in one liter of drinking water and take this once every three days. It will also reduce the fungus and other pathogens too.

Most importantly if the sodium carbonate (washing soda) 1/4 teaspoon' plus sodium bicarbonate 1/4 teaspoon in 1 glass of water taken twice a day, the carbonate will react with carbon dioxide to neutralize it as the carbonate will absorb the excess carbon dioxide generated by the body.

Anytime I take baking soda only, followed by burping it indicates the body needs more bicarbonates to process the protein to convert into urea, otherwise the protein can't be utliize. Hence, I know that my body is acid, even if there is NO bacteria either, but the burping is always and indication and if I continue to take it I got no burping. However the addition of sodium carbonate neutralizes the burping by converting that into sodium carbonate. If the body needs more bicarbonate to properly metabolize, it might be that I can take 1/2 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate plus 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate, in 1 glass of water and take it slowly.

Libido in increased with small borax because it is a surfactant, is anti fungal, anti yeast and usually helps normalize magnesium and calcium ratios, besides, I found from my own experiment as well as my friend to note that libido in increased. Borax has that component because it also normalizes hormone, but i believe its surfactant property prevents oil dissolved in the blood that blocks hormone from working, and it also removes fluorides, which blocks libido.

On the same lines as Ted mentioned above, there is a diet plan that worked for me. I had candida and perhaps H Pylori as well (I have not gotten tested yet, but a doctor mentioned to me after hearing my symptoms). This diet plan avoids all sugar, fruits, wheat and other gluten grains/products, beans, tomatoes, dairy, etc. It even avoids rice!! Please check out their website: http://www.bodyecology.com. I am not affiliated with them in anyway, but am actually trying out their diet plan, which is working miracles for me so far. I had a lot of mental symoptoms as a result of candidiasis that I have had for quite a few years. I tried many candida killers and medicines, but the rule of thumb is that as long as you are feeding the candida, there is no way for cure. So, diet seems to be the ultimate answer. You will find that other websites also confirm similar diets. Anyway, get Donna's book and follow the recipes. She also has a sugar replacement product called "Lacanto" that is made out of herbs -- just tastes great and is a sugar-thirst quencher while you are on the diet. Good luck!

Hello Ted,

I am very interested in your writings and knowledge because I have suffered for years with HP. I did the whole antibiotic cocktail. While it seemed to have cured it initially, sadly I believe my symptoms have returned again while living in China.

My question is about the sodium carbonate. This is what I read elsewhere online about that: Sodium carbonate is similar in chemical formula to both baking soda and chalk. It's more basic than baking soda, however, which makes it caustic and potentially harmful if swallowed. It's more water soluble than chalk, which doesn't dissolve well in the body.

Please explain why you are suggesting to use this if toxic.

Thank you.

Actually, it depends on dose and what time you take it. Same problems as sodium bicarbonate. If blood pressure problems and usage it is after meals and before sleep and always mixed in one glass of water to dilute alkalinity at 1/4 teaspoon. The other that seems to do the job better as the effects on body alkalinity is similar, which is sodium citrate and potassium citrate, but it is taken between 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon.

But the real problem high blood pressure is inadequate medical diagnosis as to the real cause of high blood pressure. These tests overlooked with a very wide reference tests in blood test. So I have to create my own reference range myself. It revealed a different cause, inadequate kidney function, inadequate pancreas function, supermarket salt and pickled foods which added the supermarket salt damaging our immune system and of course sugar, msg and artificial sugar. The last three is fried foods, ice cream and chocolates which which contains oxalates and cadmium. 90% of our foods is acidic and that damages the kidneys especially when it is below 6.0 ph. People with damaged kidneys seem to be below 5.5 pH. Ice cream is interesting those that use caregeenan caused autoimmunity like the supermarket salt it especially attacks the thyroid. And you probably know, NSAIDs such as paracetamol and other painkillers which damages kidneys and cause high blood pressure. So I have to fund my own research because internet sites are just copying other and then misunderstanding and others set in.

So if you avoid those food mentioned and fasting and maybe take some citates or perhaps green tea without fructose you can control blood pressure. The major cause is kidney insufficiency and as a result water is retained. I can spend all day with this subject, but just don't have the time.
