Acne Started After 1 Month of Apple Cider Vinegar

Dear Ted, Hope everything's well. I am very much impressed of how you have shared your knowledge and helped people with your valuable advices in the Earth Clinic website.

I desperately need your advice,Ted. I have high blood pressure and have discovered the curative powers of ACV. I drink 1 shot glass of ACV (approx 2 tablespoons) in an 8 oz of water, sometimes with honey, 2-3x a day. I started taking this ACV remedy a month ago. It did lower my blood pressure, however, I noticed that I started having acne. I've had pimples before, but nothing comes close to this --- pimples and small bumps (like whiteheads and blackheads) all over my face.

Reading your posts in Earth Clinic, I have somehow understood what causes the acne. Is it because my body's level of acidity is high (caused by ACV) and my body does not have enough antioxidants (including zinc) which causes my body to secrete excessive oil to get rid of toxins, and the oils harden faster than my body can get rid of it? I would still want to continue with the ACV to regulate my blood pressure.

But my game plan would be the following, but would need to know your advice if this would be the best remedy for me:

1. I will still continue with the ACV remedy (for one it also helped me lose weight). But I will follow your ACV remedy (The Ted's ACV Remedy), the ACV Baking Soda remedy to neutralize the acidity of ACV and normalize my pH levels.

2. To help with my acne, I will take the following daily: - Vitamin E (400 i.u.), once a day - Zinc Gluconate (50 mg), once a day - should I take this daily or just 3x a week? how long? - Granulated Lecithin (1 tablespoon, 15 grams) - can I sprinkle this in my morning oatmeal?

3. I just started using Hydrogen Peroxide 3% as topical for acne, and it does dry up the bumps, but another pimple has showed up today. I think, it is because I have not started taking the supplements and your ACV Baking Soda remedy. I just remedied the external but nothing on the internal problems.

4. In terms of my diet, I just started on No Flour, No Sugar, No Dairy Diet. I gained 30 lbs ever since I moved to Memphis 3 years ago and I want to lose weight. Will the ACV Baking Soda Remedy help me lose the weight?

Ted, I desperately need your advice on how to manage my blood pressure and to rid of my acne, and I would also like to know if the above-mentioned plan would be the best remedy for me. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you very much in advance. Have a great week ahead.

... As to the fact that apple cider vinegar cause lower blood pressure, this is quite true. I have noticed many of my friends who take either a lot of apple cider vineger, or people who eats lots of pickled foods which are basically foods in even simple distilled vinegar have consistently low blood pressure. As why this is so, the acetic or acetate helps detoxify the liver. Liver basically does that by acetylation. The other properties of apple cider vinegar is its ability to dissolve oils which does a fair job and this can be seen when distilled vinegar or apple cider vinegar is used to clean grimy oils in ovens and kitchen tables. The one properties that is problematic is its acidity that needs to be neutralized, since a body can sometimes have insufficient capacity to neutralized them without sufficient bicarbonates.

As to whether baking soda with apple cider vinegar will reduce it, it will generally reduce them, but ths is not a perfect formula, however it IS A SIMPLE and SAFE way. A more complicated formula that works better is the need to mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/8 teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate plus 2 tablespoon of ACV in 1/2 glass of water. So in case there's a necessity to take more due to certain emergencies, the dose is increased in proportionally.

Acidity is indeed a real problem where it accelerates oxidation, which is why it is causing acne, and clearly adding bicarbonates is a necessity. Body's oil become rancid, they harden, then they clogged without sufficient antioxidants as well as zinc. It should be noted that if a vegetable oils are left out LONG ENOUGH, they become rancid, and they do harden, that's why using vegetable oils as a lubricants are not ideal use. Vegetable oils from time to time uses vitamin E, or BHT to prevent them from being rancid, and hardens. An it is the same story with the body and thus antioxidant such as vitamin E, vitamin C cannot be avoided.

However, the other issue that we hardly deal with, is the excessive use of vegetable oils in the diet and how difficult it is for the liver to rid of it and should be halved or reduced more.

It is unbelievable the degree of insults we give to our own liver, such as cigarettes smoking, chemicals in shampoos, alcoholic drinks, fatty foods for example. Thus snacks which uses vegetable oils, potato chips (cancer causing acrylamide from high temperature cooking), french fries should be avoided if at all possible, while vitamin E, vitamin C I would consider taking them. It is this rancidity that accumulates in the body's blood vessels (hardened oils) that shows up in the face as ACV loosens its grip from the blood pressure and show up on the face as well, not just the issue of acidity and lack of antioxidants. My guess is you are taking way too much ACV for the body and that can increased the blood serum of hardened oils that gets loose in the blood stream and our body is slow to rid of them since we might be consuming too much of it to some extent, at any one time. To prevent this, frequency of dose as opposed to the amount of dose at any particular time should be less taxing on the body still.

As to the main questions:

1. I will still continue with the ACV remedy (for one it also helped me lose weight). But I will follow your ACV remedy (The Ted's ACV Remedy), the ACV Baking Soda remedy to neutralize the acidity of ACV and normalize my pH levels.

As mentioned I can use this or a more effective one with the use of baking soda, potassium bicarbonate plus ACV, but the issue is finding the potassium bicarbonate. The remedy is mentioned in the above, and potassium should be used in congruent to the sodium, to maintain somewhat normal sodium:potassium ratio and not to overdo things. There are three simple weight loss tips that I have found to be effective: granulated lecithin 1 tablespoon per day, avoiding dinners, and lower dietary calorie intake (fats and sugars). 2. To help with my acne, I will take the following daily: - Vitamin E (400 i.u.), once a day - Zinc Gluconate (50 mg), once a day - should I take this daily or just 3x a week? how long?

I would be considering anywhere from once a week to 3 times a week. The length of it I would determine by dryness of the skin, and loss of apetite. Too much zinc can result in loss of appetite, too excess in any one period can cause vomiting. That's why I don't follow the bottle's instruction. They seem to promote excess use.

- Granulated Lecithin (1 tablespoon, 15 grams) - can I sprinkle this in my morning oatmeal?

It can be used or mixed in every meal. 3. I just started using Hydrogen Peroxide 3% as topical for acne, and it does dry up the bumps, but another pimple has showed up today.

I think, it is because I have not started taking the supplements and your ACV Baking Soda remedy. I just remedied the external but nothing on the internal problems.

Alkalinity, vitamin E, an zinc is an important element. But then so does granulated lecithin to reduced the hardened oils out of the blood serum just the same. 4. In terms of my diet, I just started on No Flour, No Sugar, No Dairy Diet.

I gained 30 lbs ever since I moved to Memphis 3 years ago and I want to lose weight. Will the ACV Baking Soda Remedy help me lose the weight?

Usually weight gain were late night meals, especially leaning on high fatty foods meal. The ACV baking soda may help loose weight. But most weight reduction is seen from avoiding dinner and supper meals (or at least take light meals), reduction of dietary fats and sugar.

It SHOULD BE noted, that exercise can quickly reduce the body's sugar and to a very limited extent the fats. The meals I would lean on is vegetables, complex carbs and low fat proteins (usually from good non contaminated fishes). Proteins and certain amino acid has been shown to cause the body to burn fats more effectively and hence this is WHY exercise does not reduce the fat, the problem lies in dietary makeup that needs to be changed otherwise the body simply can't burn the fat, especially the low fat dietary proteins from fishes, my favorite is the salmon and tuna, but others are o.k. However never the clams or oysters. Those are high in heavy metals and cholesterol.

While I have limited time to do experiments, I do know that using colorless iodine when used as a cleaning solution now can also dissolve some rancid hardened oils on the face. However, I tend to be deliberate and test small areas just to be sure it won't worsen the condition, but this is still experimental.

The things that was not mentioned in the email is supplementary magnesium and vitamin B complex, especially the vitamin Bs (mostly from the B3) also helps. Certain properties of the niacinamide dissolves hard fats, and thus can reduce that. However once formed (acne) a suitable cleaning solution has to remove the hardened fats which causes acne first. Whatever supplements cannot stop once the hardened fats already have clogged the skin and a suitable solution to remove them such as distilled vinegar, apple cider vinegar, colorless iodine, or even a solution of niacinamide vitamin B3 are some possbilities I would consider. I would use a small towel and use that on my face, although it is likely I have to test them to see if it works or not first, or that I won't have a skin reaction just to be sure. Hydrogen peroxide IS DRYING kills the bacteria, but IT DOES NOT dissolve the rancid hardened fats which HARDEN the skin pores.

Please know that your weight gain is your body's reaction to acidity and toxins. You must look into hydration to save your life. I found Earth Clinic a long time ago and have read the columns often. There are always great ideas for healing here. The one thing I always find missing is WATER. Go to watercure.com and read Dr. Batmanghelidj's research. It is the one thing everyone misses, the one critical thing...without water the body cannot function properly. So all the supplementation and all the great food cannot be utilized properly. There must be Balance in the sodium, potassium, and water for the body. I KNOW this because I am a living proof. Do NOT try to start drinking a lot of water at one time. Build up over the course of time. Do NOT try to drink water without using sea salt. (Your body needs SEA SALT to work properly.) Do not use the sea salt without drinking the correct proportion of water and eating the fruit. (Do Not use table salt, it is poison for the body.) Alkaline water, Himalayan Sea Salt, (I have found this Sea Salt to be the best)and Sole (see American Bluegreen for the way to make and use Sole)for the sodium and minerals your body needs in colloidal form, and Banana/Orange/Orange Juice or other fruit for the potassium. Water is the absolute beginning for any true healing of body and mind. Please start there. Blessings, Alaina
