Posted by Anonymous on 03/27/2009

HI TED,
I LOVE YOUR VAST KNOWLEDGE ON HEALTH ISSUES AND ON TREATMENTS IN "EARTH CLINIC". THANK YOU!

I HAVE "OCD". I'M ASHAMED TO ADMIT MY PROBLEM TO JUST ANYONE -- HOPE YOU CAN OFFER SOME INSIGHT. I HAVE ALWAYS PICKED AT MY SKIN (SCABS) SINCE I WAS A CHILD. I AM NOW IN MY 50'S AND MY BODY LOOKS LIKE A WAR ZONE. THROUGH THE YEARS, IT LET UP AT TIMES BUT NOW I AM WORSE THAN EVER BEFORE. MY SKIN WILL NO LONGER HEAL LIKE BEFORE AND SCARS WILL NOT FADE AWAY EITHER. I SEEM TO GET TEMPORARY SATISFACTION FROM THIS AWFUL PROBLEM BUT EVEN MAKEUP WILL NOT COVER UP THESE SCARS NOW. I SHOULD ALSO MENTION THAT I HAVE BEEN ON ANTIDEPRESSANTS FOR 25 YRS. AND I STILL STAY DEPRESSED. I CAN LIVE WITH THAT BUT THIS OCD IS OUT OF CONTROL -- PLEASE HELP ME. UGLYGIRL!!

There are a couple of remedies that helped obsessive compulsive disorder. In studies, they have found lower estrogen levels in mouse to cause this condition, a suitable remedy appears to 4 drops of peppermint oil taken internally, which if it does work takes about 15 minutes. Aromatherapy, the best ones at least for me is narcissus oil, this can be added to handkerchief or a suitable bottle in which to smell it. The smell is strong so the thoughts sometimes go away in seconds after smelling it. It works by reducing some anxiety levels. People with this condition may have low sulfur, so MSM 500-1500 mg dose may help, or DMSO 10 drops in 1/2 glass of water. It takes about 15 minutes for it to have some effect. In some research studies they found excessive level of cholesterol which I believe merely block the circulation, as does certain supplements that are high in calcium. Mostly vegetable cooking oil tend to add cholesterol level too high as well as shellfish, lobster and octopus in foods. Granulated lecithin may help reduce the blocked circulation so that the brain does not have to excite unnecessary to maintain its circulation. Interesting taking medicines that are calcium channel blockers, or even taking excessive levels of caclium tends to reduce circulation or starve the brain of blood flow inducing the obsessive compulsive behavior. Obviously eating potatoes, french fries may make the condition worse and table salt may restrict the condition.

In another case, a person with hypoglycemia, a condition of low blood sugar that tends to occur after eating about 1-3 hours, in which the food we eat caused a spike in blood sugar and the body produces an insulin spike to resolve the blood sugar. Since insulin has spiked to a high level, the brain suddenly find itself with a low blood sugar and is struggling to think or do something to raise up the blood flow, by going through a routine. To prevent this blood sugar from spiking during eating, at least one glass of water is drank before, another one glass during and then another glass after eating, thus diluting the water with blood sugar that would have spike up too high if not enough of water was drank. The addition of chromium and vanadium will also control blood sugar spikes. It is this reason of controlling blood sugar is also why certain other supplements maybe beneficial also such as manganese, tungsten, for example. The dose of chromium is between 1000-1500 mcg a day, with average dose of 1000 mcg. This should control or at least stabilize the blood sugar. A liver imparied or congested can also result in similar problems and one tablespoon of granulated lecithin at least once or twice a day is taken before meals. Sometimes vitamin B complex helps, mostly to regulate blood sugar and I have seen a few obsessive compulsive blood sugar from eating high sugar food and in another instance from aspartame added in chewing gum. Upon removal of aspartame the OCD conditions improved. In certain emergencies I needed to "cool out" sometimes a quick dose of niacinamide vitamin B3 500 mg. works quickly in cooling down the obsessive thought too.

In yet another condition, a carbicarb also increases blood flow by alkalizing the brain allowing the brain to normalize its metabolism more evenly. The carbicarb remedy is often taken in the morning and late in the evening. I have since modified the carbicarb remedy to alkalized the brain to be a more relaxed state. In this instance, the remedy is 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate (washing soda) plus 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon of potassium citrate (or potassium bicarbonate) in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day. The effects is seen within about 15- 30 minutes.

An amino acid supplements is taken to balance out imbalance of amino acid has worked very well, but the softgel capsules is chewed to help bioavailability then if it is swallowed. It is said that L-tryptophan works, but that I have not tried since the price here is too expensive to consider even buying. Some have tried HTP instead, but that I have not received feedback from such use.

There are times that supplements is not within reaching distance, but I may also get obsessive compulsive behavior in that instance from listening to extremely boring lectures at a certain United Nations subsidiary on peace (most ridiculous theory in my opinion because it is tied to Reverend Moon's cult) related seminars in which I try to relieve this extremely boring lectures by deriving some mathematical binary logic and finding ways of resolving the peace process. A binary logic by the way has 16 possible outcomes of any particular choice when given two alternative choice to make and is used as a symbolic mapping to prove either they are wrong or right. Since it is so involved and mind expanding, the anxiety levels are reduced. Of course this type doesn't happen to me unless I try to find answers to questions that have no answers, but at least it gives me the general answers or directions I am looking for. While my form of obsessive compulsive disorder isn't anywhere close to cleaning hands, and other routines, I used complicated routines to just wear out my brain energy. A routine simply isn't too involved. However there is another way, if the routine is to pick skin or pinch, the routine can be changed to something new to keep the mind occupied. Such as try to figure out 2 x 2. Then, to figure out what is the number when that number is again multiplied by 2 ad infintum. It will get to the level where the numbers are so large the brain's anxiety just collapses from mathematical calculation. On the other ahdn if blood circulation is blocked in the brain resulting in OCD, a certain exercise routine such as breathing in and out deeply exactly 3 seconds 15 times without looking at the clock and trying to match that timing with the watch without looking and see how far off you are. By replacing new thoughts with old thoughts and if that becomes a new process, and if it becomes habitual, we can put in other new more useful thoughts also so that the blood flow throughout the brain. In any event we use other thoughts to replace the old thoughts and the old thoughts go away. To do this effectively I can give a homework assignment to list some of the new thought for today to replace the thoughts. But before doing it is to write out 25 possible new thoughts to think about before choosing one of those to do. Just listing 25 of those can be mentally taxing anyway so I doubt it's going to actually do it, but if it must ever routine for every day can never be repeated. So new thoughts are constantly remplaced until the old thoughts disappear. But that's one way when a supplement are not within reach of course. I personally just go smell a strong narcissus oil which just stops them in seconds. But if it gets used to it, I might try eating a smelly fruits (Thai seems to love it but not the touris here), which is eating high sulfur durian, or perhaps some other strong smelling fruits. The senses just overtake the thoughts is the idea, maybe ammonia smelling salt is an extremely strong one if it verges on the extreme, or perhaps an electric pen that shocks you with a mild electricity often will displace one's thought to other things. So the list goes on and on whenever one is pressed to displace routines.

It also helps if a person eats some cilantro that removes heavy metals and may also help reduce some reduced brain activity. When we look at MRI scans or other type of brain scans that examines the obsessive compulsive disorder we see that the brain's metabolic function has too high of an activity in many areas, but also low activities in many areas of the brain also. It's the area where there is low energy that hurts the brain as the brain tries to sort out and restore a more even circulation by using certain routines. Therefore 500 mg of magnesium citrate twice a day supplements is really helpful in such situation but also, and diSodium EDTA about 25 mg is what I will use. I can't use calcium EDTA since it tends to block circulation of the brain when it leave behind calcium, but also high fats, high cholesterol, high calcium, congested liver can also caused the same problem also. High protein food may cause protein coagulation in the blood and may worsen the condition and therefore alkalizing remedies as in baking soda and potassium mentioned may help. It should be noted that if the blood is too thick or coagulated, it may bring similar conditions of OCD too where the brain's metabolism is uneven. However, high heavy metals can caused uneven brain metabolism and therefore chlorella taken at a lower than usual dose as in 50 mg once every other day with magnesium may help synergistically. The key is to the morphology of the brain of obsessive compulsive is simply to stabilize the brain's metabolic function. As such carbonated drinks and acid formiing foods such as bread, white flour, gluten, excessive meats, excessive protein should be avoided, especially artificial sugar as in aspartame hidden in many chewing gums and soft drinks.
