Saint John's Wort is fine, it is also antiviral and depression at the same time time. 5HTP may help some. It is more for correcting his biochemical imbalance rather then friends now. If he is a bit depressed, take omega 3, salmon fish oil 3 times a day, 1000 mg for a week, then reduce to 1 a day and then every other day. His zinc status is also low, so 25 mg for just 5 days, then thereafter once a week. His depression should be manageable. It appears that drugs lower his immune system making it vulnerable to virus, and it is virus that's causing him problems. It is actually more common than people suspected. Narcissus oils also helps depression too, and B3 niacinamide.

It's likely to be low energy from studies of depressed people SPECT scan. St. John's Wort is antiviral and that may help the depression too, but we know it as an anti-depressant. Most people can handle well losing friends, to better be able to cope, try vitamin E 400 i.u., vitamin C ascorbic acid, amino acid supplements, and zinc acetate (it's antiviral) 15 mg twice a day, taken over 1 month. Metabolism can be low if not enough CoQ10, so 400 mg should also resolve it. All depressed people have presence of virus, and with lysine as the major remedy, 1000 mg x 4, this usually helps. I have no problems in Bangkok dealing with these people, I do have problems of people who are not willing to take supplements in the first place, even for one day!
