Restoring Digestive System

Posted by Linda (Dayton, OH) on 09/27/2006

This question is for Ted- I had an eating disorder 20 some odd years ago (bulimia), never realizing the consequences it would have on my health. I have totally messed up my digestive capabilities, and cannot seem to get things straightened out. I think that I am totally deficient in stomach acid, and have been trying to self-medicate with HCI.. I am constipated and have been for a long time, my hair is thinning and coming out horribly, and my scalp itches and burns. None of the doctors that I have gone to can figure this out. Can you help me? I am at my wits end. Linda

Dear Linda:

I think that I am totally deficient in stomach acid, and have been trying to self-medicate with HCI. .I am constipated

Just take magnesium chloride if you can find it. Start low about 100 mg. mixed in 1/2 glass water on an empty stomach. The figures of 100 mg does not have to be exact, the range can be anywhere from 100-250 mg. If you can't find magnesium, then magnesium citrate or magnesium gluconate will do. It might reverse your constipation into a diarrhea, but this will be only temporary. However, the key is to take it on an empty stomach and wait at least 1 or 2 hours before you start eating.

The second thing, that is somewhat of a paradox, if you take sufficient amount of sodium bicarbonates, with some potassium citrate, this will usually restore your acidity of stomach by allowing the cells to function normally by specialization.

If biological terrain of the cells are disturbed most specialized cells such as your stomach cannot function well. So take 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day, once morning once before bedtime on an empty stomach. If you can find potassium citrate, or potassium citrate, add about 1/8 teaspoon of that to your mix. Your constipation should stop in about a week. It takes about 2 weeks for your body to have sufficient buffer.

have been for a long time, my hair is thinning and coming out horribly, and my scalp itches and burns

This is a sign of acidity and inflammation. Therefore we can modify the above formula to consider this as follows:

1/4 teaspoon baking soda + 1/4 teaspoon citric acid + 1/8 teaspoon potassium citrate plus 1/2 glass of water.

A reaction of baking soda with citric acid will get you sodium citrate. Sodium citrate is anti-inflammatory.

The other possibility, the thinning of hair, taking zinc acetate of 50 mg will often help.

You need not do anything else besides taking some evening primrose oil (about 1000 mg) to help improve the cell as well as vitamin B complex B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, of 100 mg each three times a day and inositol of 100 mg if possible.

These should help restore cellular functions to normal, especially the hair in the skin. Most of these recovery will likely be coming from B5 and B8, but as always, you always take them in balance otherwise it will cause a deficiency of the other B vitamins. During your recovery phrase if it is not too much, please try to supplement vitamin C in form of sodium ascorbate or sodium ascorbate and ascorbic acid of 500 mg. in the morning and another dose of 500 mg in the evening. This should restore your antioxidant status to normal, as well as your alkalinity status too.
