Antibiotic Caused Substantial Hearing Loss?

Posted by TA (UAE) on 08/22/2012

Hi Ted, thanks always. My sister had typhoid and was prescribed some antibiotics, majorly Chloraphenicol, four years ago. Few weeks after the treatment she lost her hearing. We suspected Chloraphenicol as the cause. If a sound is very loud, such as explosion, high-pitched screaming, dropping of metal object on tiles, honking of cars she hears but has been unable to hear normal talks. Please is there any alternative regimen you can suggest?

Chlorine from chloraphenicol may damage the nerves. Protecting them may require sodium thiosulfate--one crystal three times a day to neutralize chlorine damage, magnesium chloride saturated solution to protect against heavy metals, 7 drops twice a day before meals, no fluoridated toothpaste, no aluminum rice cookers, at least some potassium iodide supplement as antagonist to chlorine. These are some of the remedies I would try. Of course no artificial sweeteners or fried foods as they are damaging to regenerative stem cells of the nerves. And at least head and neck exercise forward, back, right, left, clockwise, and counterclockwise three times to increase circulation.

Pregnenolone 50 mg, may also helped. I have had some successes in restoring damaged nerves of hearing by just applying DMSO drops 2 to 3 drops around the ears in the back of the ear and the front of the ears. She may be low in Pregnenolone, which will help restore the damaged nerves as well as progesterone cream, the dose I use is 50 mg at night before bed time. It works within less then a week after years of hearing loss in one client I have treated recently.

09/27/2012: TA replies: "Ted, you are awesome! Thanks a great deal. 'Applying DMSO drops 2 to 3 drops around the ears in the back ear and the front ears,' does this mean an external, topical application just near the temple and close to the nape of the neck? May you be happy and fulfilled, thanks for the noblest of endeavors!"

09/27/2012: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Yes externally only, it will help oxygenate the area as well as bring the antioxidants in DMSO to reach the area and help the hearing. It requires a minimum of 3 days to see some results but it varies given the state of damage of the hearing too.

TREATMENT 1
*Pregnenolone 50 mg (at night before bed time.)
*DMSO 2 to 3 drops (Topical application around the ears in the back ear and the front ears.)
*Progesterone cream;

TREATMENT 2
*Sodium Thiosulfate: one crystal three times a day to neutralize chlorine damage,
*magnesium chloride saturated solution to protect against heavy metals, 7 drops twice a day before meals,
*potassium iodide supplement as antagonist from chlorine.

1. Are TREATMENT 1 and 2 to be taken simultaneously or removal of chlorine (TREATMENT 2) must precede 1?
2. Searching online to order DMSO I realized there are different potency percentages, gels and solutions: (2a) What percentage do I order for the dosage you suggested (2b) gel or solution?
3. Since "it requires a minimum of 3 days to see some results but it varies given the state of damage of the hearing too," what is the maximum duration of treatment you suggest before putting a pause to the treatment?
4. Would the treatment suggested under TREATMENT 1 be suitable for a man having the same typhoid-antibiotic-caused-hearing-loss as well?
5. "Preferably Lime has more vitamin C content." I have been on Lime Bicarbonate Formula for about 4 months. If I want to get a mega dose of vitamin C, say like 3g-5g daily like you did in one of your posts, like how many limes would I take?

Thanks in advance."

10/01/2012: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Both TREATMENT 1 and 2 help and can be taken at the same time. As to question 2, you want to look for a 100% solution of DMSO. Question 3: The first treatment can be continued for as long as it does not irritate the skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue for 3 or 4 days and continue again.

Question 4: Treatment 1 will help repair nerve damage caused by the virus eating away at the nerve, but DMSO is an antioxidant and also helps circulation. It also is applicable.

The typhoid caused nerve damage as this was a live virus. They are TEMPORARILY weakened, but once in the body, with greener pastures, they get stronger and REPRODUCE HEALTHY TYPHOID VIRUS. The vaccines basically are to get the virus in your body in small enough numbers where the body's immune system can fend it off, but I have recently seen several deaths within 24 hours after vaccination. Vaccination kills people WHO ARE OLD, TOO SICK OR TOO YOUNG TO TAKE VACCINATION. Too old because the immune system is weak, too sick because the immune system is too overworked, too young because their immune system is immature. Immature means people who are less than 3 or 4 years of age. Too old means people who are above 50 to 60 years of age, depending on your health, but this is the borderline age.

Hi Ted

You are talking about using pregnenolone and progesterone for hearing loss you have recommended that for a hearing loss affected lady.

Also you mentioned it as " I use it" which I was wondering you use it in your recommendations on for your own self?

Main thing I was wondering sorry for such an intrusive questione, are you male or female, if you are male, do you mean that you use pregnenolone caps and progesterone cream for your own self to help hearing nerves, even though you are male?

Just wondering as I am male for hearing loss remedy is it ok for me to use pregnenolone for some time and progesterone cream, or that is for women strictly and I need to use something different suitable for men?

Please help I am at loss...

Thank you for your help and time, blessings

My husband suffers from hearing loss (cause unknown). Also, I have a 94 year-old aunt who is very hard of hearing. What would you suggest for them? Dr. Oz has talked about warming up some coconut oil and putting in the ear, resting for an hour, and then tilting the head towards the shoulder where the wax would drain on a towel. What do you think? I have also read about onion juice. Is that really safe? Also, thank you for all of your wisdom and knowledge. You have helped me more than once and so have all the other Earth Clinic posters!
