Ted Helps Young Man with Hair and Eyebrow Loss

Posted by Anonymous (Anonymous) on 08/31/2011

Hi Ted, I have been going through your posts on the Earth Clinic website and I strongly believe you will be able to help me fight my hair loss and eyebrow loss. I am a 24 year old male and I have been suffering from diffused hairloss for the last 4 years or so. My eyebrows have also started shedding since the last 6 months.

Hairloss - I have pretty bad dandruff on my scalp that I cannot seem to get rid of. I have tried all the over-the-counter shampoos but none worked for me. I have these small white "balls" or "beads" on my scalp that come off easily when I scratch. Most of the time hairs are attached to those white nodes. I am also losing some hairs without those nodes. I have flakes as well as those white beads. My scalp is also somewhat oily. My dermatologist thinks it may be some form of alopecia and I have tried Rogaine but got no positive results. Propecia also had no affect.

Eyebrow loss - My eyerbows are also falling off in large numbers. I have some dandruff on my brows but I took care of that using tea tree oil.

Also, I am losing hairs from my nose.

Things I am using/have used so far:

  1. ACV and Tea tree oil on scalp and eyebrows - I still have dandruff on my scalp. Hairloss and eyebrow loss continues. ACV seems to cause more hairloss.
  2. I have been drinking ACV and baking soda with water 2X a day for the last 2 weeks - No changes noticed
  3. I have been taking Biotin and multi vitamins for the last 2 years - No changes with hair and eyebrow loss
  4. I tried Saw Palmetto for a couple of months - No results; I am no longer using this
  5. Rogaine and Propecia - No noticeablel I am no longer taking these.

Tests:
1. Blood tests show my TSH is normal...so no thyroid issues

Nothing seems to stop my hair and eyebrow loss. I DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP. I am highly concerned and very stressed out. What do you suggest I try next? Please help me out here :-( :-( Regards

Hair loss is caused by several factors, fungus (dandruff is a clue), excess sebum (indicates zinc deficiency), hormones (Dehydrotestosterone, DHEA, progesterone), amino acid deficiencies (primarily lysine, taurine (5000 mg per day), N acetyl cysteine (500 mg x 3), proline, citrulline, arginine, glycine and tryrosine), and then there is deficiencies of vitamin (biotin you tried, folic acid, vitamin C) and minerals (boron, silicon, sulfur - MSM, copper) and heavy metal toxicity (from too much zinc, too much copper in one case). So that's why resolving is hard without some form of hair mineral analysis, hormone of your body, and we can pretty much guess the vitamin and, in one case I have the amino acid profile which checks for deficiency, one particularly was taurine deficient, so that resolved it.

In your case my guess is it's still a fungus and you probably needed borax 1/4 teaspoon per liter of water, selenium yeast 200 mcg. x 2 a day, chromium 1000 mcg, copper gluconate 5 mg a day, and some zinc acetate, silicone in form of sodium silicate 10 drops a day, and manganese sulfate 25 to 50 mg a day. Now if it works it doesn't really take that long say one week, if it doesn't work there's two problem either were barking on the wrong tree (didn't do amino acid) or not enough of the supplements of either of those were taken. But good bets are sodium silicate, N acetyl Cysteine, and citrulline - especially if your sex drive is dwindled) and taurine especially if MSG was taken a lot lately, but likely the fungus has not gone away. Selenium, manganese, boron, chromium and copper will get rid if that. Zinc is needed if the head is oily, if too dry then it's too much zinc.

Hair only grows while you are asleep, so if you lack sleep then it's probably DHEA, melatonin, and B3 (niacinamide) I will concentrate on. You need about 7-8 hours of sleep, it doesn't grow if the sleep is less then 5 hours. There is simply not enough rest, and also growth hormones is produced during sleep, the important ones to raise that are B3, citrulline, glutamine, taurine, and glycine.

I am getting 7-8 hours of sleep every day.

I will start the list of items/supplements you suggested. If that doesnt work we can try the amino acids or the other items. Should I continue with ACV+baking soda, multi-vitamins and Biotin also? How about topical solutions? Do you want to use anything on my scalp and brows? Do you think iodine deficiency can be a possibility (though i have no thyroid-related issues)?

Your suggestions are working!! You are AWESOMEEE!!!!!! My hairloss slowed down but I am not cured yet.

I have been taking the following supplements for the last 5 days:
1. Zinc supplement 50mg - 1 per day
2. Manganese supplement 50mg - 1 per day
3. Selenium supplement 200mcg - 1 per day
4. Chelated Copper 2.5mg - 1 per day
5. Chromium Polynicotinate (Chromium 200 mcg) - 1 per day
6. Vitamin D3 1000 IU - 1 per day

I am also baking Borax (1/4 tablespoon per liter of water).

Questions:
1. How long do I continue taking Borax? It has been 5 days so far.
2. How long do I take the supplements? Again, it has been 5 days so far. Note that I am not cured yet. But I see an improvement. Which supplements should I continue and how often?
3. Do you want me to try anything else?

I am very prone to gas.I have gastric pains (excessive gas formation) very frequently. The hair loss may be related to this. Do you have any suggestions for this? Although my hairloss has slowed down a bit but I am still losing a lot of hairs from my scalp and also eyebrows everyday. Please help!! I am desperate for a cure!

Thank you again for all the help! Please do respond. I desperately need your suggestions.

Regards"

Ted replies to Anonymous, "Sometimes it helps if progesterone cream is applied to any part of the body, and in some case may help hair growth, especially you are tested low on progesterone.
