Scalp Turned Red After Using ACV

Posted by Dan (Rocky River, Ohio) on 11/05/2006

Could someone provide feedback? I began using ACV on my scalp to combat dandruff. I noticed that it turned my scalp a deep red, for about 30 minutes. Futhermore, I know some people use it on their face; however, everywhere it contacted mine it turned it tomato red. I tried, as an experiment, to lightly wipe my face with ACV to see what would happen. It turned in beet red for about 40 minutes. Have any of you guys had this reaction? Thanks

Dear Dan: The bugs that is causing the redness is a bug that is acid resistant, many strep and staph are like that. Try a 20% potassium citrate solution , or a weak 10% solution of sodium carbonate (washing soda) the redness should be gone. Ted
