The first time I went to the doctor I was diagnosed with gastritis. He gave me nexium. That was about 5 year ago. I haven't felt any releif with the medication. my symptoms are at time bloating, gas, stomache etc. I really don't get alot of heartburn but I always have a an acid taste in my mouth. I have all day and I also wake up with the acid in my mouth also burning in the tongue. any suggestions.

Deborah: Yes. Take 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda twice a day for at least two weeks. Add a pinch of potassium citrate or potassium bicarbonate, if you can find it! Most of the acid taste should disappear. It is important to try to use baking soda as a mouthwash to neutralized whatever acids left in your mouth at least 3-4 times a day.

So you DRINK this baking soda: 1/4 tsp in 1/2 glass of water 2x's a day? Or do you use it like a mouthwash and spit it out?
