Does Niacin Help with Neuropathy and Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease?

Posted by G (Anon) on 08/07/2013

Like everyone else, I was born with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT), in 2008 my husband had heart problems, his Dr. told him to take niacin as a result, we both take 6-250 mg. of niacin twice a day. I knew something I was doing was helping, then my husband heard on the radio that niacin helps with neuropathy and with that I agree. I still every once in awhile have sharp pain that keeps me awake all night, but nothing like in the past before the niacin. The niacin cannot be flush free, flush free does not work. I am hoping this information will help someone else.

Thank You.

You are right, flush free b3 does not work. But to help the heart, n acetyl cysteine 1000 mg, edta, 1000 mg of chondroitin sulfate, vitamin k, copper chlorophyllin, vitamin c 500, magnesium and CoQ10 1000 mg also works. The problem with niacin is to watch out for a fatty liver condition if taken for a long time.
