Dear Ree:

The case of astenia I have encountered concerns the major problem where lack of sleep was encountered, along with the weakness or lack of energy, similar to that of chronic fatigue.

The observations I have was that astenia is a condition of brain acidity level to be high, or what I consider as acid brain. The excess acidity of the brain is really not surprising because 80% of the oxygen and 20-30% of the calories are consumed by just one single organ, the brain.

Hence whenever metabolism is high, the brain's acidity level does not reduce, which should be reduced as a person is about to be going to sleep, under normal conditions, which is why people tend to yawn to remove carbon dioxide from the system, which alkalizes the system.

The acidity issue is just only one element to the cause of astenia, there are others quite possibly such as low levels of chemical messenger signals such as hydrogen sulfide, excess chemical messenger signals of carbon monoxide (yes, carbon monoxide is used as a chemical messenger by the brain!), and possible imbalance possibly lack of Nitric oxide by chemical messenger signals produced by the ganglia cells. Both the nitric oxide and the hydrogen sulfide chemical signals tend to degrade very fast and lost, if the blood has metabolic acidosis. The hydrogen sulfide can be raised which helps cellular brain metabolic process to reduce with just drinking soy milk, unsugared, no artificial sweetners if at all possible. In any event, if exclusion of sugar is not possible then just drink plenty of water with an ordinary soy milk during the day or afternnon is one possibility. Or just 30 minutes of walking after drinking the soy may burn out most of the sugar consumed without raising unnecessarily high blood sugar, plus drinking 2 to 4 times the water over the soy will reduce the sugar from 8% to 8/4 = 2%, which is roughly the normal urinary sugar levels that would not effect any spikes in blood sugar. To prevent blood sugar spikes it is therefore best to drink water BEFORE drinking the soy milk, so it won't disturb the body chemistry.

In general, baking soda is not a good buffers of alkalizing the brain cells when compared against sodium carbonate as much as it's efficiency in alkalizing the blood because of the high carbon dioxide pressure generated by the brain, that the baking soda gets degraded too quickly before neutralizing everything and causes in some conditions of temporary acidity of the brain cells.

Hence it becomes necessary to use a precursor of sodium bicarbonate, which is sodium carbonate, which contains one less carbon dioxide attached to the compound. The common name for sodium carbonate is called washing soda, which can be demonstrated easily that this absorbs a metabolite carbon dioxide out of the system. It actually reduces any fizz there is in any soda or coke, but absorbing the carbon dioxide or the carbonation, and the sodium carbonate is neutralized into sodium bicarbonate or baking soda.

Therefore the results I have received from astenia almost immediately was the following remedy - and I have a couple of them, that has similar results but different people will like different remedies. The crude remedy is the first, simplest is the second and a more complete remedy will be the third, and out of the blue remedy is the fourth:

1. CRUDE REMEDY (this works and then sometimes it doesn't, but they are convenient and easy to find) In this remedy I got two remedies (I wish I can recall all of them, but I don't have very good memory). The crude remedy has worked in a couple of cases here in Bangkok that suffered sleeping problems: The crude remedy assumes I cannot find sodium carbonate, potassium bicarbonate, or even potassium citrate.

a. 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day. Once in the morning and once before sleeping by about 1 hour. Preferably I am giving more attention to potassium because some people lack potassium because of diuretic medicine and blood pressure medicine caused lowered potassium levels Which brings to the next one!

b. 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/4 teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day, where the second one is taken about 1 hour before sleep.

In my personal opinion the crude remedy will work about 50% of the time. However, the reason I mentioned this is many people won't have the things required for the remedy so you end up with a crude remedy. Lack of supplies or that the sellers don't have sodium carbonate, and potassium bicarbonate are the prime reason why crude remedy is mentioned.

2. SIMPLEST REMEDY. The simplest remedy is the most effective astenia remedy I can come up with requiring the least amount of other things and will likely to work in the middle to long term remedy trials. Its primary focus is to help sleep. The remedy here is often called by scientist as the carbicarb remedy, that is used to protect against brain damage in stroke victims, but I used this for people with acid brain problem leading to astenia and hence cannot sleep. Of course in my personal opinion protection against stroke victims using just the carbicarb remedy is not enough, i believe an addition of DMSO is needed there. The simplest remedy assumes I can find the sodium carbonate, but have real great difficulty in finding potassium bicarbonate. And if potassium bicarbonate cannot be found, then potassium citrate is usually quite fine.

1/4 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate in preferably one glass of water taken between 2 to 3 times a day. Ideally the critical time will be when it is taken 1-2 hours before sleep. In some cases, they might just take it before sleep, and take it just once 2 hours before sleep, because in certain cases of astenia, which might occur, but not likely, to cause sleepiness if they were taken in the morning and early afternoon. However, since astenia brain is somewhat acid, it seems to help in most cases throughout the day. The alkalizing effects has a sudden calming effect on the brain within about an hour or so. Of course, it is quite possible to reduce tensions and argument this way too by drinking this very same remedy because it has a calming effects on the people involved.

3. A MORE COMPLETE REMEDY. In this remedy I combined potassium and sodium, as follows:

1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate plus 1/4 teaspoon of potassium citrate, in 1 glass of water taken three times a day. The last one, should be taken about 1-2 hours before bedtime, usually for me it's closer to 1 hour.

4. OUT OF THE BLUE. The out of blue remedy was totally unanticipated, but I believe that sea salts contains certain monoatomic elements, called m-state materials which may be essential to the brain since it was found through the work of David Hudson, that rhodium and iridium was high in the brains. Therefore, I prefer ordinary local sea salt, but not Dead Sea Sea salt, because it has just m-state gold for the dead sea. Local sea salt and maybe Cetic sea salt, or Himalyan sea salt may do fine. This out of the blue remedy seems to work quite well and was totally unexpected that it would do that well, but anyway, here's the remedy: (This remedy is going to be updated pretty soon as I make more modifications!)

In one liter of drinking water, I would add 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate, and quite possibly 1/8 teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate (if possible). Preferably the solution is mixed during the night, kept overnight for the reaction to set in and drink throughout the day, shake before using. It contains monoatomic elements (m-state material) which may help the brain for more nutrients of micromineral elements. This newer remedy or a variation of this is going to replace the sea salt in 1 liter of drinking water from now on. The drinking water with ORMUS (we can't called ORMEs because it's patented). It should be noted that I am not following the ORMUS recipe and decided to make my own variations which is more practical or easier to prepare because the original recipe in preparation of ORMUS required caustic soda and a pH paper (the Wet Method), which very difficult to prepare for most people, as well as time consuming.

Some people will have different of opinions, for certain, but based on feedback the OUT OF THE BLUE REMEDY, seems to help both sleep and lack of energy the best, which is found in astenia. I can't say which remedy is good, but I can say the Crude Remedy won't work well, although there are improvement that did cause some surprises.

Certain nutritions that I find helpful and taken on the second week includes vitamin B complex, B50 taken twice a week, magnesium supplements (usually magnesium citrate 250-500 mg/day only 5 days out of a week), and fish oil omega 3, 1000 mg, taken every other day.

Wheat, dairy products, tomatoes, yeast, cheese, fruits (which I will limit to taken only once a week), sugar, artificial sugars (extremely damaging), and vegetable oils are the major obstacles that prevent recovery. Rye product is generally o.k,

Hopefully this might clarify some points in astenia!

Ted
